Dr. Michael Sterlachini
Senior Pastor
Mike is our Senior Pastor and has been in full-time ministry for over 15 years. He has served churches in North Carolina and South Carolina. Mike is a two-time graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Master of Divinity degrees. He also holds a Doctor of Ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mike is married to Karen and they have two children. He enjoys playing guitar, ham radio, and lifting weights.
Mrs. Dawn Durham
Church Secretary
Dawn Durham joined the staff at Griffin Baptist Church in August 2006 as our Administrative and Financial Assistant. She handles the financial matters of the church, as well as any church-related matters. When you call or visit the church office, you will be greeted by Dawn. Dawn and her husband Greg have 3 sons: Brad, Tyler, and Victor (residing in Heaven 2002). The also have two daughter-in-laws (Katie and Courtney), and two grandchildren (Aubree and Rhett). She enjoys working on her chicken-breeding farm and goat farm that she runs with her husband. Dawn and her family love the great outdoors and family time.
Mr. Kent Brown
Choir Director
Kent Brown received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on Easter of 1969 in Simi Valley California; he was baptized shortly thereafter. Kent joined Griffin Baptist Church in September of 1999 and became the volunteer choir director and periodic music leader in 2007. Serving Jesus and Griffin is Kent’s desire. Kent is retired, but not from serving Christ. Kent is married to his wonderful wife DeAnna. He engages in short-term missionary work and operates the church’s Facebook page, including the Daily Reading of Scripture. He has three married adult children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Karen Sterlachini & Mrs. Tracy Moody
Youth Leaders
Karen and Tracy lead our youth ministry and have years of experience working with teenagers. Karen earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois. She also holds the Masters of Education and Educational Specialist degrees from Kent State University. She has served as a School Psychologist for over 20 years in public education. Tracy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Kent State University. She has also served in the church and public education for many years.
Mr. Robert Cowan and Mrs. Carolyn Cowan
Brotherhood & WMU Directors
Robert and Carolyn oversee our missions and children's ministries. They were married on June 24, 1964, and are lifetime members of Griffin Baptist Church. They have three boys, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. They have a passion for for seeing people come to know Jesus and helping others. Robert is a retired deputy with the Pickens County Sheriff's Office.
